Indicaiton:
Infections by germs sensitive to penicillin and dihydrostreptomycin: Cattle pyometra, mastitis, fracture, actinomycetes and leptospira infection etc. And diarrhea, metritis, sepsis, cystitis, cattle hemorrhagic septicemia, calf pneumonia, pig lung disease, fowl cholera, swine brucellosis, concentrations of the equine sepsis, foal pneumonia, tuberculosis etc.
Penicillin G is a beta-lactam antibiotic and its structure contains the beta-lactam ring and thiazolidine ring common to all penicillins. Beta-lactam antibiotics prevent the bacterial cell wall of susceptible Gram-positive bacteria from forming by interfering with the final stage of peptidoglycan synthesis. They inhibit the activity of transpeptidase enzymes which catalyse cross-linkage of the glycopeptide polymer units that form the cell wall. They exert a bactericidal action but cause lysis only of growing cells.
Dihydrostreptomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic active against gram-negative aerobes, which after penetration of the cell envelope binds to receptors on the 30S sub unit of the bacterial ribosome. It induces misreading of the genetic code on the ribonucleic acid (mRNA) template, causing bacteriostasis. Aminoglycosides exert synergistic action in combination with beta-lactam antibiotics.
After injection of Penicillin G Procaine and Penicillin G Procaine, the procaine penicillin is rapidly absorbed from the site of injection, with maximum penicillin levels of between 1 and 2μg/ml for horses, sheep and pigs and 0.5μg/ml for cattle, being obtained with two hours of injection.
The penicillin elimination half-lives are approximately two hours for sheep and pigs, five hours for cattle and 11 hours for horses.
Dihydrostreptomycin is absorbed at a similar rate, with maximum plasma levels of 23μg/ml being obtained for cattle, sheep and pigs and 15μg/ml for hoses. The elimination half-lives are approximately two hours for cattle, sheep and pigs and four hours for horses.
After intramuscular injection of procaine penicillin, penicillin was slowly absorbed after local water interpretation. The peak time is longer and the blood concentration is lower, but the effect is longer than penicillin. Massive injection of procaine penicillin can cause procaine poisoning.
Intramuscular injection of dihydrostreptomycin sulfate absorbed well, and the peak concentration of dihydrostreptomycin sulfate reached its peak in 0.5~2 hours. Under the therapeutic dose, the effective concentration in blood could be maintained for 6~12 hours. It is mainly distributed in extracellular fluid and exists in various organs of the body, with the highest concentration in kidney, less content in lung and muscle, and almost no content in brain tissue (horse is about 4% of serum concentration). It can reach bile, pleural effusion, ascites, tuberculous pus cavity and caseous tissue, and can also pass through placental barrier. The protein binding rate was 20%~30%. Most of this product is excreted in the body by glomerular filtration in its original form, with high urine concentration and a small amount excreted from bile. After intramuscular injection, the half-lives in horses, buffaloes, cattle, dairy goats and pigs were 3.1, 2.4, 4.1, 4.71 and 3.8 hours respectively.
